Inseparable from great social advances.

At crucial moments, it managed to create the conditions and actively contribute to shaking up the history of our country. The greatest periods of social progress in this country: 1936, 1944, 1981 owe a lot to the communists. The choice of unity, from 1934, during the Resistance, and in the 1960s, which led to the common program, has profoundly marked the history of this country.

If there is one lesson to be learned from this century, it is quite remarkable to note that every time the French Communist Party has led the way for unity and gathering, it has benefited our people. Of course, once again nothing is guaranteed, and every time forces have been found to quickly put an end to these moments of significant advances (1938, 1947, 1983…). But the advances and social conquests are present, and every time it takes decades for the right and the employers to undo them.

It is during these periods, moreover, that the PCF has significantly strengthened. Its future as an active force for human emancipation will not come through any kind of introspection or nostalgic incantations, but through a genuine offensive deployment to contribute, with others, to gathering all those who suffer the consequences of capitalist domination and aspire to live differently. “Another world is possible,” chanted the alter-globalists. Yes, it is possible, but finding the paths to achieve it is a continuous struggle. For a century, the PCF has been dedicating its energy to this cause, and there is no reason for it to stop…
