PCF: Making the Tramway a Success in Nice

Latest News

Robert Injey and Emmaneulle Gaziello, municipal and metropolitan councillors, and Jacques Victor, general councillor, held a conference to present their proposal for a tramway line with a different route than the one decided on so far by the municipal majority.

The criticism is particularly harsh regarding the underground route, the design of which is contested by an opposition made up of parties from both the right and the left, as well as some collectives.

tramway-nice-cout-subventions.jpgLine 2 of the tramway is generating a lot of discussion, about its route (tunnel), its cost (750 million euros today, more likely 1 billion) and the uncertainties of its financing. Today, real threats weigh on the execution of this equipment which we consider a priority.

Christian Estrosi’s insistence on choosing the most expensive and technically uncertain option, even as the city and the Metropolis are financially drained, and the refusal to consider the expectations of users… all of this burdens the actual implementation of this line.

After the abandonment of the LGV project and the postponement after 2020 of the extension of line 1 towards Ariane-La Trinitรฉ, abandoning line 2 of the tramway would be catastrophic for the development of public transport in our area.
There is still time to reshape the project and consider common sense.
