PCF06: The 67th Castle Festival this weekend

Latest News

The 67th Festival of the Castle on the Castle Hill in Nice will take place this weekend on Saturday, June 30th and Sunday, July 1st, organized as every year by the Alpes-Maritimes Federation of the PCF.

In attendance will be Pierre Laurent (national secretary of the PCF), Marie-Christine Vergiat (European Parliament member from the Left Front), and political leaders from Greece, Spain, and Italy.

It is a major political, festive, and popular event aimed at showcasing the determination of the Communist Party in building a real alternative on the left.

The statement from Cรฉcile Dumas, secretary of the Alpes-Maritimes PCF:
“We are in a new political situation and we are delighted by the defeat of Nicolas Sarkozy. Despite a respectable score by the Left Front, we are losing seats in parliament.

To continue: “In the Alpes-Maritimes, the UMP remains omnipresent and emerges from these elections with nine members of parliament out of nine. We know well under these conditions that we will need to resist against the last ‘groupies’ of Sarkozysm. This is evidenced by the relentless efforts of Christian Estrosi trying to evict the CGT from its historic premises at Place Saint-Franรงois.”

This grand political day will conclude at 5:30 PM with a rally featuring Pierre Laurent, who will reiterate the importance and role of the PCF and the Left Front in achieving change on the left.

Three days after the European summit, in his capacity as president of the PGE (Party of the European Left), he will lead a major European debate alongside Greek and Spanish representatives as well as our European Parliament member, Marie-Christine Vergiat.
