This fantastic series has come to an end, so there will be no sequel. Since then, other roles have been offered to Philippe Bas for both television and cinema.
Indeed, Philippe Bas stars in “Skate or Die” by Miguel Courtois, which hit theaters on June 11th. Philippe Bas explains: “It’s about two young teenagers who enjoy performing tricks with their skateboards and recording themselves with their cell phones. One day, they find themselves in a parking lot where a deal is taking place. These young people then film this scene. At one point, the encounter with these criminals goes wrong: there are three deaths. Secretly, these two young people have filmed these murders. No one saw them until one of their phones rings. The villains trace the ringing, and they are exposed. For 24 hours, these two young people are pursued by these criminals. If they don’t escape, death is certain: so it’s either they skate or die, hence the title: ‘Skate or Die.’”
There will indeed be action in this movie, and speed as well: “‘Skate or Die’ is a popcorn movie with a very lively and fast-paced direction. It’s aimed at teenagers. I think the young audience will enjoy it. The film contains 3,500 shots, whereas a normal movie has 700 or 1,000 shots.” Quite a feature!
Indeed,” continues Philippe Bas, “I invite you to discover it through the trailer: [www.skateordie-lefilm.com](https://www.skateordie-lefilm.com/).”
Calm and serene, Philippe Bas then presents the role he plays in this movie: “I play the villain. I was very lucky to have been offered this role. It’s the opposite of the character Philippe in the TV movie ‘Where Are You?’ that aired on M6. Yes, it was the best I could have had after that. It’s a very different character, and it touched me that the same director offered me this completely opposite role.”
During the week of the [Monte-Carlo Television Festival](https://www.tvfestival.com/), Philippe Bas’ week was “very rich” with the broadcast of the TV movie “Where Are You?” and the theatrical release of “Skate or Die.” But indeed, Philippe Bas, who are you? He smiles and replies, “I am an actor who loves to learn. I am someone who wants to flourish in life. I want to get closer to the things I love, move forward, and constantly improve.” A quest for performance? A question we forgot to ask him!
Last year, Nice-Premium had already met his gaze at this festival. Could he have a soft spot for our French Riviera? “Indeed, I love the south. I had the chance to come in 2007. I have a pilot friend who lives here. In France, we are fortunate to have very beautiful places with typical mentalities. It’s great! Through our acting profession, we have the chance to travel. It’s a true wealth. We observe and see how people live. There are beautiful places where people are sad and others, for example poorer ones, where people are happy to live. These travels are little lessons. Yes, I really like the south. Yesterday, I was walking along the port of Fontvieille…”
Before concluding our interview, Nice-Premium offered him a casting to play the role of editor-in-chief of a daily newspaper. Only one question was retained: “Philippe Bas, if tomorrow, you are offered to become the editor-in-chief of a newspaper, what front page would you publish?”
“I would follow sports news, but I would also talk about the congress to ratify the hunger in the world to raise awareness. In the press today, what I find good is the awakening it can trigger in each of us: Becoming aware of what is happening. On the front page, I would put on one hand articles on entertaining subjects, things that feel good, sports, or culture and on the other hand articles raising collective awareness of what is happening in the world and also what is happening down the street, in our street. Every day, I try to find things so that everyone can stand together. The most important thing is to have something to eat.”
Philippe Bas, with such a front page, you land the role!
By the way, did Nice-Premium succeed in centralizing Philippe Bas? Mission accomplished!
We will end this article with a lovely phrase he shared with us during the interview: “If you have sunshine on your side, try to share it with those who don’t.”
