Philippe Manassero (CDOS 06): What can we wish for sports in 2015?

Latest News

The associative sports world gathered in large numbers for the traditional New Year ceremony at the invitation of the president of CDOS 06, Philippe Manassero, and his team.
It was an opportunity for him to speak about the state of sports on the Côte d’Azur and to outline some paths for the future.

As a departmental organization, the CDOS aligns well with the general council’s policy focused on sports and nature, with significant attention to sailing, skiing, and trails, and a special focus on disability sports.

However, the world is changing and so is sport. This simple slogan serves as a reminder that the territorial reform expected to materialize in the coming months requires deep reflection: there will be changes on the horizon for 2020 and “let’s be ready to consider a new approach to the sports movement,” said Philippe Manassero clearly.

He continued by highlighting the imbalance in the allocation of CNDS funding for sports facilities and social cohesion projects: “the Bouches-du-Rhône are systematically favored, and it’s becoming unbearable to endure this rejection.”

Who’s feeling the heat?

CDOS’s actions will continue throughout the year with initiatives that have confirmed success and growing popularity: the Sports Caravan, which will promote good practice in coastal towns and local villages to the great delight of young participants; the MIN d’Azur en fête, the Olympic Day, Feel the Sport, the Bike Festival, Open Handi Swimming, and many more.

Two new additions enrich this exciting agenda in terms of social engagement: the red card projects against violence in sports and the practice of young girls in sensitive areas. We will revisit these for their symbolic value.

Finally, Philippe Manassero expressed his wish for the reestablishment of Team 06 for the 2016 Rio Olympics to provide full support to Côte d’Azur athletes who may be selected.
