The magnificent hall of the Palais Sarde hosted the traditional ceremony of wishes to the sports world.
In his speech, President Philippe Manassero set the bar very high: “We have only one goal: to build a better world around the strong values that sport conveys.”
Words that could not find better witnesses than the many champions present: Alain Bernard, Jรฉrรดme Ardissone, Patrice Barattero, as well as Sonia Fiuzia, Anaisie Bugna, and Justine Tonso.
The CDOS consists of more than 68 committees and 2,161 clubs. The number of registered members in the department is nearly 250,000, which corresponds to almost a quarter of the population.
Its main aim is to support and develop local sports life.
How could one not mention the “Caravane du Sport,” its flagship event, which has distributed nearly 6,000 passports to young people participating in various activities over more than 30 stops in the department’s communes?
And still, among others, “Sentez-vous Sport” which has established itself in the city of Grasse, the sports festival at the MIN, the Bike Festival in Nice, the Olympic Day, the Kids VTT06, the Open of the Sports and Disability hub.
2016 will be an Olympic year, a special occasion for bringing together men and women of all races, religions, and nationalities in the name of the universality of its message and the sense of peace and fraternity that Olympism inspires.
“The Alpes-Maritimes department will be present with many athletes gathered under the banner of Team 06, as was the case at the previous London Games,” said Eric Ciotti, President of the Departmental Council, who pointed to the commitment of the community he leads and which is a privileged partner of numerous events and co-organizer of sailing and mountain programs.
Solidarity is a value that cannot be absent from the sports world. In this regard, the storms on October 3rd and 4th that severely damaged the Azur region prompted the response of the sports world, which, over the weekend, launched many initiatives to raise funds and measure the generosity of the sports community.
The French Red Cross thus benefited from monetary aid of 23,500 euros, which will be crucial in addressing the many unmet needs.
