The Départemental Olympic and Sports Committee of Alpes-Maritimes (CDOS 06) held its annual assembly. The 2017 season was thoroughly reviewed.
“A post- and pre-Olympic year” and “a true educational and societal dimension” are how the president of CDOS 06, Philippe Manassero, respectively defines 2017 and sports activity.
This meeting begins with the main sports statistics: 35 million participants, 16 million licensed members, 3.5 million volunteers, 125,000 jobs, 40,000 establishments, and 40 billion euros, representing 2% of the national GDP.
Since money is being discussed… Financially, the 2017 financial report amounts to €331,377. For the third consecutive year, the profits, with a total of €14,188, remain positive.
CDOS 06 then presents its 2018 forecast budget, and Gérard Van Den Bulcke, director of the Alpes-Maritimes Committee of the League against Cancer, decides to grant a subsidy of €5,000. Thus, the annual budget would amount to €330,447.
Between sea and mountains, the Alpes-Maritimes department is truly a playground due to the multitude of sports offered. Throughout the year, Committee 06 travels the roads to promote sports practice through dozens of events: stages of La Caravane du Sport, Sentez-vous Sport, or Le Sport est dans le Pré.
It is worth noting a significant change planned for 2019: the increase in the membership fee was voted on and unanimously approved. It will rise from €75 to €100.
Finally, in the closing of the assembly, several leaders from the Azur region received a distinction for their dedication: Michèle Legarrec, Françoise Ferro, Denis Manassero, Ghislain Perrin, Angkhane Chantapagna, François Baudino, Christian Bellenoue, and Antoine Manassero.
It seems highly likely that the 2018 sports report will be just as positive with the 35 medals at the Games (both Olympic and Paralympic) in Pyeongchang, including the silver medal by Julia Pereira in snowboard cross.
