Philippe Vardon: “Christian Estrosi must debate this Thursday”

Latest News

During a press conference yesterday afternoon in Nice, Philippe Vardon, the National Rally candidate for the municipal elections, criticized the behavior of Christian Estrosi, whom he considers “condescending.” According to him, the current Mayor of Nice should not refuse to debate on Thursday on France 3.

The campaign team of the incumbent mayor, Christian Estrosi, has announced that he will not participate in the various debates scheduled by the regional channels for the second round of the municipal elections. For RN candidate Philippe Vardon, the current mayor is “avoiding” the debate: “he has a habit and yet seems to enjoy TV studios. Between March 16 and June 10, he nonetheless participated in 19 television appearances, including two at 8 PM,” exclaimed the far-right candidate. Throughout his press conference, the 39-year-old man did not spare his opponent: “he is afraid of his adversaries, he avoids contradiction, I even think he is particularly avoiding me,” he dared to say before continuing: “perhaps he does not want us to talk about the bike lanes, the traffic restrictions he imposes on many Nice motorists, or the call to prayer that was issued for 15 days from a mosque set up in municipal premises.”

“You have to wonder if Mr. Estrosi regrets the lockdown”

In the mayor’s re-election statement, Philippe Vardon laments that his opponent “only talks about the immense help provided to the people of Nice.” “You have to wonder if Mr. Estrosi regrets the lockdown,” he continues, “these past months have not swept away the city’s problems but have instead highlighted them more,” the RN candidate protests. “I will never refuse a debate, he is trying to neutralize the second round because he already saw himself elected after the first. Christian Estrosi has three days to change his mind, and if he is not present, I will still speak about him, his record, and his mistakes,” he warns before concluding: “I call on the people of Nice to punish this contempt at the polls by teaching him that an election is not won in advance.”
