It was at the prefectural palace of Nice that the departmental director of public security of the Alpes-Maritimes and general controller, Pierre Marie Bourniquel, received the insignia of Knight of the Legion of Honor from the hands of the Minister of the Interior, Overseas, and Local Authorities, Michèle Alliot-Marie, on October 2, 2008.
The Minister mentioned the career of Pierre-Marie Bourniquel, former Departmental Director of Public Security (DDSP) of Pyrénées-Orientales from 1997 to January 2001. He notably served as head of the district of Biarritz, Nouméa (New Caledonia), and Evry (91). “He is a fair and talented man who achieved excellent results. I have known him for a long time since he was a commissioner in Biarritz where my father, Bernard Marie, was deputy-mayor of Biarritz and an international rugby referee.”
