Pierre Soulages Exhibition: “Black-Light” in Photos

Latest News

Originally scheduled to run from February 8 to April 19, the exhibition “The Creative Power” has finally reopened after the lockdown. Now, until August 23, the most curious can visit the Lympia Gallery to admire the works of Pierre Soulages, and this is free of charge.

For the artist’s hundredth birthday, the Departmental Council pays tribute to Pierre Soulages by displaying his works at the port Lympia gallery. Nearly a hundred of his works are currently exhibited, including 25 paintings rarely shown to the public. Paintings, engraved works, bronze, and illustrated books are present to better enter the world of the artist, spanning a period from 1946 to 2008. We revisit most of his work on display in photos.

“These paintings were first called Black-Light, thus designating a light inseparable from the black that reflects it. To avoid limiting them to an optical phenomenon, I invented the word outrenoir, beyond black, a light transmuted by black […].”

If you wish to see the exhibition with your own eyes, you will need to book your free spot, as well as the time of your visit, from this link. You will also need to wear a mask throughout the visit.
