On the occasion of Pink October, SOS Breast Cancer is organizing a Pink Jogging event this Sunday, September 29, on the famous Promenade des Anglais in Nice. It’s a unique opportunity to gather for an essential cause: raising awareness about breast cancer.
This Pink Jogging embodies the spirit of solidarity and awareness. Runners and walkers can move their bodies while supporting women affected by breast cancer. As usual, this annual event promises shared moments and activities, all with the aim of raising awareness.
Indeed, this event aims to raise public awareness about the importance of regular physical activity and the prevention of breast and cervical cancer. It will highlight the importance of self-checks and being attentive to one’s body, while also encouraging the annual consultation with a gynecologist.
Pink Jogging Details
As the name suggests, the dress code is pink for everyone. Participants can choose between a 7 km run and a 5 km walk. Both activities will start and finish at the Quai des États-Unis (Nice East). The run will begin at 9:30 am, following a session of activities and warm-ups scheduled at 9 am.
For those who prefer walking, warm-ups will start at 10:30 am, followed by a start at 11 am. Before each start, the team will set up a Pink Jogging Village to finalize registrations, along with activities and musical warm-ups led by a Zumba coach.
Registration and Participation
To join this initiative, a contribution of 12 euros is required. This amount will help support the activities of SOS Breast Cancer for women affected by gynecological and breast cancers. Registrations are open to everyone, for both individual participants and groups (companies, clubs, and associations). Children under 12 can participate for free.
The SOS Breast Cancer association will provide a t-shirt, a snack, and parking upon presentation of the ticket, while stocks last. The largest group will receive a reward during the run.
Organizers especially invite participants to wear their t-shirts from previous editions to respect the environment. Otherwise, you can collect t-shirts on the first floor of Nice Étoile. Collection times are as follows:
- Saturday, September 28: from 10:30 am to 2 pm
- Wednesday, September 25: from 11:30 am to 2:30 pm
- Thursday, September 26, and Friday, September 27: from 11:30 am to 2:30 pm and from 5 pm to 7 pm
No t-shirt distribution or registration will be possible on the day of the event.
Acting for Women Affected by Breast Cancer
In addition to this collective run, the SOS Breast Cancer association will collect breast and hair prostheses in good condition throughout the month of October. These donations will be sent to partner organizations abroad to help women with breast cancer.
