A human chain was organized yesterday in the Department’s gardens on the occasion of the Pink October campaign, the national month of mobilization for breast cancer screening.

The Alpes-Maritimes department was one of the first to implement organized breast cancer screening back in 1989, well before its nationwide adoption.

For over 20 years, it has been committed alongside Apremas (the Association for the Prevention of Cancerous Diseases, a coordinating center for cancer screenings that organizes screening campaigns for breast and colorectal cancer) to organize breast and intestinal cancer screenings.

According to Charles-Ange Ginesy, president of the community, “Pink October has established itself as a major public event that raises awareness and mobilizes against breast cancer; it is a great victory.”
