Place on the Net in Nice

Latest News

As in the previous year, this meeting promises to be a significant moment of exchanges and debates between artists, companies, associations, and residents, around a quality artistic program and an Internet forum presenting various actions carried out in the neighborhood (St Roch Neighborhood Committee, NOUS association, and the Sept Off festival).

It is an opportunity to bring local players and residents together in the public square and to bring live performances & multimedia to the streets.
One of the goals of this event is to make visible the activities of Hublot as a multimedia space (free Internet access and new technology training) and as a tool for communication and local information via the portal [https://www.lehublot.net](https://www.lehublot.net), which highlights neighborhood activities. It’s also a way to showcase all the artistic and cultural activities of the neighborhood, notably those of the Entrepont (a creation and residence space for live performances located in the Spada Hall near St Roch Square).
The evening will feature a convivial meal, a dance duo, an exhibition and interactive creation, a public forum, a video dance performance, and concerts starting at 7 p.m.

Public Internet Forum

Saint Roch Neighborhood Committee

This committee works for the well-being of the population and helps engage residents in developing their neighborhood (currently disrupted by works). Thus, in partnership with many associations and two other committees from East Nice (collective for the development of St Jean d’Angély and Halle Spada), it organized a public meeting to provoke dialogue between public authorities and residents. This meeting (May 2006) brought together more than 200 people. A video montage will be presented, followed by a debate on the theme.

Association NOUS: Memory of Residents

Founded in November 1994, NOUS (Nice Ouverture Union Solidarité) aims to unite women wishing to act together and promote social and professional inclusion actions (training, activities, homework support, intercultural exchanges, etc.).
The association also offers homework support, a reading workshop, and a theater workshop for children as well as an outing program for the general public.

This year, the association Nous worked with its team on the documentary “Memory of Residents” focused on the neighborhood, its history, and evolution. Children in homework support created a video reportage about the neighborhood with the help of Frédo Piraino from Hublot. They met with neighborhood residents and interviewed seven people:
Mr. Biagioni from the snack at Risso Square, Mr. Tonani from the neighborhood committee, Mr. Albarelli who writes articles in the journal “Lou Sourgentin”, Mr. Giovanni a blacksmith on Vérany Street, Mr. Bresson the cabinetmaker from Beaumont Street, and Madam Missouri, a former artist resident on Diables Bleus Street.

The central question is: “How was the neighborhood before?”. Through the documentary, we discover past life in the neighborhood through each person’s memories: Ange told us that the school used to face Risso Square, and the playground was the square. There were women washing clothes in the Paillon, called the ‘bugadières’. Mr. Albarelli shared many memories of the carnival when he was young. Previously, a river ran where the Palais des Expositions is located now. Along the river was a flea market where you could find many things to buy…
Association NOUS presented “Memories of Residents”. This film was created by: the children (in CE2/CM1/CM2 classes) in school support, by volunteers, and with the Hublot association’s collaboration, with support from the Regional Council.

Participants: Mr. Tonani, Mr. Biagioni, Mr. Bresson, Mrs. Missouri, Mr. Giovanni, Mr. Albarelli, and Mrs. Bénéventi. Many thanks to the volunteers of the association, especially: Aurélie Marius, Safia Fellague, and Chantal Galmiche.
Texts: All the children and volunteers. Camera: All the children and Frédéric Piraino from Hublot. Editing: Frédéric Piraino and Sophie Sergi-Gobert, Coordinator of the NOUS association.

“Médiamorphose II” Video dance performance

Butterfly is an idealist, on the margins of the social system.

Butterfly realizes her discoveries only through clumsy movements in search of just the right gesture, a fleeting moment she usually does not see, because
“He who sees, separates.”
“Jean-Louis Giovannoni”

Writing and video production: Frédéric Piraino.
