Political reactions following the announcement of the future Police Headquarters

Latest News

The announcement of a future Police Hotel, in the place of the Saint Roch hospital that will be transferred to Pasteur 2, is not to everyone’s liking. Particularly Gaël Nofri, an opposition councilor, who wanted to respond to the mayor of Nice, who is seemingly a victim of excessive, relentless activism.

A week ago, Mr. Estrosi reproached me for requesting a National Police station for Le Ray on the grounds that “this is not within the competence of a Departmental Councilor.”

He, whose candidates are nothing but yes men of the majority, will undoubtedly have forgotten the spokesperson role for the district and the expectations of a local elected official.

Yet, the same Estrosi took advantage of the electoral period during which the Prefect, the Government’s representative, is forced into silence to announce “the redevelopment of the Saint-Roch hospital into the central police station.” This time, it is not a request but a publicity stunt from the Mayor of Nice, who seems to have forgotten that it is the State that will decide… and it will oppose it with a strong argument: the Foch police station is less than 200 meters away!

Yet another publicity stunt on the eve of elections? It’s worth noting that the site is used to it, as in 2009 it was supposed to become the new city hall. It was promised! It was Estrosi!

Gaël Nofri
Municipal and Metropolitan Councilor (Independent Elected Group)
