Since September 17, 2008, the date of the transfer of marinas to Nice Côte d’Azur, the Urban Community has been committed to uniting its 8 sites dedicated to yachting in the heart of the Côte d’Azur. Eager to improve the quality of public service for users and to pursue ambitious objectives for its port sites, NCA now wishes to implement a brand concept: the “Ports of Azur.”
This approach aims to unite the different entities around a label that brings together all the community ports sharing the same objectives of progress.
Ports of Azur includes more than 3000 mooring rings and the opportunity to conduct a unique and comprehensive policy in service of the user, to initiate projects interconnected with those of the territory, focused on environmental quality, economic and sustainable development, and new technologies.
To achieve these objectives in networking operation, environmental exemplarity, economic activities, technological innovations, port domain management, and tourism development, Nice Côte d’Azur is implementing operational tools such as:
- the brand’s specifications,
- communication tools,
- innovative governance methods,
- the definition of the “exemplary port” function and its positioning within the network,
- progress charters,
- a website.
This approach is conducted in collaboration with the delegates in pursuit of a shared objective of improving public service for the user and seeking port excellence.
The exemplarity of a network in service of yachting
A dynamic port network
The future lies in networking ports rather than in sectorized management. The conditions of reception and lack of space are now appreciated on the scale of navigation pools to ensure homogeneity of rules, offers, progress objectives, as well as sharing experiences and knowledge, in a dynamic of common governance.
A unique port authority
The reforms in modernization of territorial institutions with the creation of a community, and soon metropolitan, authority ensure a pooling of means, efficient and dynamic, but also the certainty of a unique, coherent, and rationalized policy on a territory. The reaffirmation of the necessary power of the delegating authority, guarantor of balance and equity, particularly concerns the standardization of existing concessions, ensuing acts, and practices.
Exemplary equipment adapted to needs
The diversity of the different ports in the network has led to very diverse realities in terms of equipment. Today, the level of requirement has evolved. The Ports of Azur are subject to compliance upgrading, development work, optimization, expansion of water plans with reclamation of mooring space, and even creation of new port basins.
An environmental priority
The Ports of Azur participate in a global and sustainable approach to yachting and the coastline, a true counterpart of the Eco-Valley’s “green policy,” through a general “Clean Ports” approach, progress charters aiming for port environmental management certification, standardizations, and new technologies for cleaner ports concerned with environmental preservation.
The user at the heart of the system
The Ports of Azur aim to put the satisfaction of yachtsmen at the core of concerns. This search for the general interest forms the very foundation of the port action of Nice Côte d’Azur. The term “Ports of the future” is not just a concept but represents the will to implement measures that will materialize all the five objectives defined above.
The Ports of Azur will be the testing ground for this concept.
