For a real problem, we must provide a real answer and not a caricature like the Tartuffe clause (known as Molière) which takes advantage to make electoral propaganda.
Starting from Wednesday, the identification card for the construction sector will be deployed in France. This professional card is intended to allow labor inspectors to easily check the individuals present on a construction site to identify potential fraudsters.
This professional card has been requested for ten years by construction companies, which suffer from unfair competition caused by detached labor fraud.
The card concerns 2.54 million employees in 500,000 companies. Companies have a two-month period, from the date of application in their region, to comply with all their employees.
It will first be deployed in Occitanie and Nouvelle Aquitaine starting this Wednesday.
The inspector will have access to the personal data of each person – employer, type of employment contract… – by scanning their card.
Alongside measures to strengthen the inspection of construction sites, France is working on a revision of the 1996 directive on detached labor.
However, the government remains opposed to the “clause Molière”, which requires workers on a site to understand French.
