With its new temporary exhibition, the Terra Amata Museum offers a revisit of prehistory through its permanent collections and the stamp collection of Pierre Cadenat (1902-1998).
A renowned prehistorian, specialist in the Prehistory of North Africa, and an experienced philatelist, Pierre Cadenat’s collection is of exceptional character. It boasts over a thousand stamps featuring themes such as prehistoric animals, the origins of man, tools and techniques, or prehistoric art.
This exhibition also illustrates the 20th-century perspective on prehistoric discoveries. This in-depth exploration is complemented by objects from the museum’s collections, those of the Cimiez Archaeology Museum, and the Departmental Prehistory Laboratory of Lazaret. The understanding of this exhibition is enhanced by the detailed scientific information provided by Pierre Cadenat on his own collection.
