In January and February 2012, the city of Nice organized the 4th edition of the Senior Citizen Trophy. This emblematic event is part of a policy aimed at benefiting all seniors in Nice, and the competition seeks to honor those who, upon retirement, have chosen to engage in life paths that fulfill them completely.

Thus, the annual awarding of a Trophy aims to exemplify the seniors who have turned their retirement into an asset and to highlight Nice’s seniors who stand out in various fields such as economy, culture, volunteer work, or charity.
Indeed, when they retire from active life, retirees may feel as though they are “withdrawn” from society. However, retirement is a privileged moment for seniors to participate in civic action. Freed from the constraints faced by younger people, seniors can pursue a life path of their choosing. They engage in activities that, by aligning with the general interest, allow them to live their lives in connection with others in a new form of citizenship that is both deliberate and embraced.
This year, the jury of the Senior Citizen Trophy has selected five winners.
Christian Estrosi will officially present them with their trophies this Thursday at the Villa Masséna.
