The city of Nice was behind the creation of the O.C.A.N. (the Office of Commerce and Craftsmanship of Nice) in June 2009.
As the main partner of the Office, with an annual subsidy of 244,000 euros, the municipality intends to continue, alongside all partners, its actions in favor of local commerce.
Inaugurated on November 12, 2009, the O.C.A.N. today unites, under the identity “Nice Boutiques,” more than 6,000 merchants and artisans around common projects that enhance the commercial attractiveness and dynamism of downtown Nice.
Promotional and entertainment actions are regularly organized towards this goal: gift voucher promotions, Christmas and Carnival-themed events, fashion shows, exhibitions, and, in a few days, events around Jazz off to mark the opening of the Nice Jazz Festival on July 8th, as well as an innovative initiative with the “magic card,” a multi-store loyalty card equipped with “contactless” technology.
