As every year, the summer will be filled with various activities at the Mercantour National Park for the many visitors who will be on the trails.
Throughout the summer in the park, the program includes ecotourism, promoting the development of the region, the discovery of local products, landscapes, and inhabitants, all with the utmost respect for nature. These activities are offered by the Mercantour Ecotourism Association, whose general meeting will take place on June 11th in Valberg.
The high school students from Valdeblore will have the opportunity on June 10th and 11th to share their daily lives with young people from Hyรจres and the Port-Cros National Park, thanks to the twinning of the two establishments. The idea is to show the differences between a marine and an alpine national park.
On Friday, June 13th, and Saturday, June 14th, activities will be set up in the Gordolasque Valley, a tributary valley of the Vรฉsubie, to discover this little-known place. Conferences and guided walks will be organized for the tourists.
Several exhibitions are planned for the upcoming weeks. First, on June 21st, in Saint-Martin-Vรฉsubie, featuring wood-carved works by Martial Bos, a local artist. Another will take place on July 4th in Barcelonette, titled โThe Call of the Forests,โ aiming to change visitors’ views on the forest.
Visually impaired people will also have the opportunity to discover Mercantour’s trails thanks to the Handi Ecoguide, which will be inaugurated in July. This modern system uses GPS to provide a description of the landscape around the user. It is available as a free downloadable app.
The major event of the summer is the Mountain Festival, which will take place on the last weekend of June, with various activities (hikes, tastings, film screenings) offered throughout Mercantour with the participants engaged in mountain life, to discover the setting that makes up the park.
