While the arrival of tram lines 2 and 3 is contributing to the evolution of mobility for the people of Nice, Christian Estrosi presented a new urban bus network yesterday that is adapted to current realities.
It’s official. A new transportation network will be operational in Nice starting next September 2. This was announced by Christian Estrosi yesterday at City Hall: โThe arrival of the new tram lines has led us to restructure the entire Lignes dโAzur network to ensure coherence in public transport and to make the network increasingly attractive and adapted to the needs of residents.โ
Wherever thereโs a tram, thereโs mobility. The arrival of two new lines will allow for bus/tram synergies. Now, 90% of Niceโs residents and 75% of the metropolitan population will be served by a tram or a bus passing every 15 minutes. The goal: to make public transport an obvious choice. But this objective was only possible by implementing arrangements promoting inter- and multimodality.
โTo encourage the people of Nice to leave their cars for public transport, new park-and-ride facilities will be opened in Magnan, Bosquets, and the Port, eventually adding more than 600 new parking spaces,โ detailed the Mayor of Nice.
Each area will see its transport offer improve and align with the needs of users. โTo support the people of Nice in this change, Lignes dโAzur services will be closer to them through a new information and communication initiative to be launched in June,โ announced Christian Estrosi.
