On April 28th, at 6:30 PM, the presentation of the crystal edition of “The Winged Victory of Samothrace” by Yves Klein, created by the Lalique Workshops, will take place at the MAMAC.
On the occasion of the 83rd anniversary of Yves Klein’s birth and the 150th anniversary of René Lalique, the House of Lalique has created, using the lost-wax technique, a limited edition of 83 crystal copies of Yves Klein’s sculpture “The Winged Victory of Samothrace,” in tribute to the artist who would have been 83 years old in 2011.
The famous House of Lalique thus reconnects with the exceptional craftsmanship of lost-wax casting, which René Lalique already used in creating his most beautiful pieces of jewelry. Each piece is unique, sculpted by Master Glassmakers with unrivaled detail, making this crystal edition a faithful interpretation of Yves Klein’s work.
The meeting of the artistic approaches of Yves Klein and Lalique is undeniably legitimate. The combination of Klein blue and the expertise of Lalique workshops results in Klein blue crystal, whose brilliance and intensity illuminate the artwork, bringing forth into the light what is contained within the material.
