Christian Estrosi decides to resume thoughtful watering of the city’s green spaces, in agreement with the prefect of Alpes-Maritimes.
Following a particularly difficult drought, the city had adopted water-saving measures with new directives:
- – Cessation of sprinkler irrigation solely for lawn areas.
- – 75% reduction in watering, allowing water supply to the tree heritage.
- – Complete halt of street cleaning services except for sanitary and public health needs.
But this has had an impact on the city’s green spaces, suffering from the climatic conditions. The mayor of Nice has therefore decided to resume appropriate watering, in agreement with the prefect of Alpes-Maritimes, to preserve these plant spaces. To spare the soil and avoid affecting water resources, the watering is done only at night. However, a return to a usual cycle will happen soon, with the duration and frequency of watering gradually increasing.
