Preservation of the marine world: a duty more than a struggle

Latest News

This Monday, a meeting took place between the team from the Marine World Discovery Center and Charles Ange Ginésy, President of the Alpes-Maritimes Department, as well as Eric Ciotti, Deputy and President of the finance commission of the Alpes-Maritimes Department.

At the Aigle Nautique base, located at 50 Boulevard Franck Pilatte in Nice, Richard Chemla, President of the Marine World Discovery Center, and Alain Giraud, Director of the nautical base, welcomed Charles Ange Ginésy and Eric Ciotti. It was an opportunity to engage in discussions about a day dedicated to the discovery and awareness of the marine world, which is dear to our regional heritage.

A day of discovery and preservation

During this day, 36 children discovered the history of the city of Nice and its maritime façade through theoretical workshops displaying ancient maps. After theory comes practice. The children then embarked on a field study with a trip at sea to deepen their understanding of the marine world.

Raising young people’s awareness about environmental protection

Throughout the year, the team from the Marine World Discovery Center offers marine environment education activities to school children.

“This wonderful association, driven by passionate individuals, helps young people understand the marine world and protect it. Everyone needs to be aware of the importance of protecting our environment, whether terrestrial or maritime. It is important to foster this awareness, particularly by educating children from an early age,” said Eric Ciotti.

Fun and active approaches are encouraged to maintain the originality of the initiative while also raising awareness about climate change and its effects on the marine world.
