“Preserve the sea, preserve life. Do not throw anything into the sea.”

Latest News

As in the previous year, the General Council is responsible for and organizes the campaign “Preserve the sea, preserve life. Don’t throw anything into the sea!” to raise awareness among boaters about environmental protection and thus contribute to preserving the quality of marine waters.

This summer, 110,000 bags (composed of 70% recycled plastic) are distributed to boaters in the 34 ports of the department.

With a capacity of 30 liters, these bags allow the collection of waste generated on board the boats, which can then be unloaded on land in the appropriate containers.

The service is complemented, as in the previous year, by a poster campaign “Preserve the sea, preserve life. Don’t throw anything into the sea!” to raise awareness among boaters about environmental protection and thus contribute to preserving the quality of marine waters.

A “clean bay” operation is particularly conducted in the bay of Villefranche-sur-Mer, in July and August.

A motorized barge is chartered by the General Council of the Alpes-Maritimes to collect boaters’ waste. Since its inception in 2008, this initiative has recovered 351 tons of waste.

Let’s recall that this action is part of the commitment made by the General Council of the Alpes-Maritimes for the cleanliness of the coastline and is in addition to the aerial surveillance of bathing waters and the cleaning of bodies of water.
