President Xi Jinping has begun a tour in Europe: in Italy, Monaco, and France, where he will be welcomed by President Macron this Sunday in Nice.
The Chinese head of state will stay on Italian soil until March 23 before heading to Monaco on the 24th, and then to France.
This visit is crucial as the European Union remains divided on the stance to adopt towards Beijing, while the United States are clearly hostile to the partnership that the Chinese offer to integrate the “Silk Roads.”
The colossal Chinese infrastructure project already involves several other European countries like Greece, Portugal, Hungary, and Poland.
Italy, the first stop, hopes to present trade development projects through the ports of Genoa, Trieste, and Palermo.
During this visit, also on the agenda are agreements with the oil company Eni, the gas infrastructure company Snam, and the shipbuilder Fincantieri.
