Following the announcement of Emmanuel Macron’s candidacy, the first coordination meeting took place in a city hall with all the different viewpoints that make up the presidential majority to kick off the campaign in the Alpes-Maritimes.
Christian Estrosi, the leader, did not mince words in his speech that concluded the remarks: “Our sole compass, our unique objective, must be the re-election of the President of the Republic”… and to have the outgoing president leading in the first round… a matter of territorial positioning!
He also emphasized by referring to some ambitions for the legislative elections: “We’ll think about the rest afterward.”
For the rest, the “Macronists” from the beginning or those more recently converted, each coming from different political families, were there, gathered to say and affirm to themselves that their choice to support the outgoing president was the right one for France and Europe in the name of shared values.
Among those present, which provides an overview of the breadth of this group, were Anthony Borré, regional delegate, and Philippe Pradal, metropolitan delegate of *Horizons*, the new party of Eduard Philippe which serves as a backbone; Pierre Paul Leonelli, president of the *Friends of the Mayor* and representative of *La France Audacieuse*, all three being the spearhead of Christian Estrosi alongside Joseph Ségura, Vice-President of the Metropolis and mayor of Saint-Laurent du Var.
Additionally, there was Claire Peradotto, president of the local committee supporting Emmanuel Macron’s candidacy, and various representatives of political sensitivities, such as Haneane Telghenti (LREM), Henri Trompier (Agir), Sophie Charensol (Modem), Khaled Ben Abderrahman (Territoire de Progrès), Hervé Cael (Parti Radical), Mike Castro Demaria (En Commun).
A heterogeneous group, aiming to combine their differences to achieve a result greater than just the sum of individual parts.
If last night’s meeting was the starting point of the local electoral campaign, with less than forty days until April 10th, there is no time to lose.
So we eagerly await what’s next!
