We received this statement from Rudy Salles, Deputy of the Nouveau Centre, president of the support committee for Nicolas Sarkozy in the 3rd constituency of Alpes-Maritimes.
“I note with great satisfaction that Nicolas Sarkozy is leading by a significant margin in Nice and in the Dรฉpartement of Alpes-Maritimes, making Nice the major city in France where he achieves his best scores.
The campaign for the second round that is beginning will be decisive for our country. All forces that oppose a return to power of the socialist-communist-green left must now rally around Nicolas Sarkozy’s candidacy.
That is why I am calling on centrist voters who voted for Franรงois Bayrou in the first round and who campaigned particularly on budgetary rigor and the fight against public deficits. These themes are not only supported by candidate Nicolas Sarkozy but are already being implemented by the President of the Republic. Their place is at the heart of the future majority that will have to come together after May 6th around the re-elected President.
I am also calling on National Front voters who expressed, in the first round vote, legitimate concerns about issues such as security or immigration policy. Nicolas Sarkozy has taken very clear positions in these areas and has pursued a determined policy. The left, by proposing the regularization of illegal immigrants and the voting rights for foreigners, intends to lead our country in a direction diametrically opposed to their expectations. Nicolas Sarkozy is therefore the only useful and effective vote to resolve the issues they are concerned about.
The French people are therefore on the brink of a true societal choice. I therefore invite everyone to rally as widely as possible around Nicolas Sarkozy on May 6th in order to defend the values of the Republic to which we are particularly attached.”
