The polemicist made his decision official in a video posted on social media this Tuesday, thus ending a cleverly orchestrated campaign that ultimately turned into a farce with allusions, quips, and so on.
“My dear compatriots, (…) like you, I have decided to take our destiny into our own hands. (…) It is no longer time to reform France, but to save it. I have decided to run for the presidential election. (…) Long live the Republic, and above all long live France!” confirmed the nationalist in a video published on social media, in which he emulates the codes of General de Gaulle during the June 18th appeal: sitting at a desk, reading visible notes, and speaking in front of a large radio microphone. All of this with Beethoven’s 7th Symphony allegretto as the musical background.
Is that it? We await what comes next!
