Accused by regional councilor (FN) Philippe Vardon (who called on the Prefect and the Prosecutor) of making unacceptable remarks (โIf there are attacks, it’s the fault of the French secularismโ) during an interview with an Italian newspaper, Imam Sadouni (whose activities take place in the Moulins district) was forced to deny them, failing which โall necessary measures will be implemented under the state of emergency,โ communicated the prefecture, which reported this article to the Public Prosecutor.
As of July 22, in a Facebook post, Abdelkader Sadouni explained: โI want to formally deny the statements attributed to me in this article; at no time did I say that French secularism is responsible for the attacks or that I understand young French people leaving for Syria, these statements are extremely serious! Consequently, I have decided to file a complaint against the newspaper and the author of the article.โ
Wouldn’t it have been better for him to remain silent instead of engaging with someone who, not speaking French properly, was not well-positioned to fully understand his statements?
In these delicate times, caution is not an empty word.
