The Nice Stadium held out but finally fell on the field of Colomiers (46-19).
For their penultimate match of the season, Nice traveled to the field of Colomiers, who are playing in the finals of this Pro D2 championship. The start of the match was rather in favor of Nice. They quickly took the lead and made things very difficult for Colomiers. After two tries, Colomiers reacted and took advantage of the shortcomings in defense to get back into the game. A try at the end of the first half brought the teams within two points of each other. Colomiers even had the chance to take the lead, but the local kicker faltered and Nice led by a mere two points at halftime. The score was (12-14).
The Nice Stadium didn’t hold up
For Colomiers, it was crucial to respond to secure a home playoff. And that’s what they did by scoring a try at the beginning of the first period. But as is often the case this season, Nice immediately responded and tied. However, Colomiers pressed on the accelerator and managed to make a difference against the league’s bottom team. The speed of the backs and the strength of the forwards proved damaging to the Azuréens. Colomiers scored five tries in the second period and claimed the offensive bonus. Final score, (46-19) and a home playoff for Colomiers.
The Nice Stadium will have one last opportunity to perform in front of its fans next week for their final match in Pro D2. Kickoff at 9 PM against US Dax.
