Pro-migrant associations “criticize” the Prefect after the court’s verdict on assistance to minor migrants.

The repeated condemnation (4th time)* of Prefect Leclerc by the Nice Tribunal for “illegal practices against migrants” has given a voice and wings to the associations involved in this process, whose members have been judged and a few times condemned for providing assistance to migrants, with some becoming celebrities like Cรฉdric Herrou.

David Nakache, president of Tous Citoyens, is the most outspoken: “Either Prefect Leclerc agrees to respect the law, or he must be replaced.”

After supporting his claims with a legal timeline of events, the former socialist turned social critic specifies the reason for this request: “This is not a matter of personal issues but rather the discredit brought upon the actions of public authorities.”

For the Human Rights League and the association supporting Cรฉdric Herrou, the motivation is clear: “The tribunal has clearly highlighted the absurd and hypocritical nature of this pseudo-analysis, whose sole objective was to turn away as many minors as possible.”

The two associations question: “For three years, how many hundreds of isolated minors, often very young, have been deprived of their fundamental rights at the Italian border?”

The Prefecture, following Prefect Leclerc’s statement at the Tribunal a few days ago, has only acknowledged the decision.
