The Minister of Solidarity and Health, Madame Agnès Buzyn, appointed Professor Emmanuel Barranger as General Director of the Antoine Lacassagne Center for a period of 5 years, starting February 1, 2019.
This appointment follows the favorable opinion of Unicancer, the Federation of Cancer Control Centers (CLCC)*. He succeeds Professor Joël Guigay, who had been at the helm of the CLCC in Nice for 5 years.
Professor Emmanuel Barranger, aged 50, is a First-Class University Professor – Hospital Practitioner (PU-PH) at the Faculty of Medicine in Nice. Since September 2013, he was Head of the Oncological Gynecological and Breast Surgery Department at the Antoine Lacassagne Center. Previously, he was Head of the Gynecology-Obstetrics Department at Lariboisière Hospital in Paris from 2007 to 2013.
A graduate of SciencesPo Paris in Health Management and Policy, he holds numerous academic responsibilities at the Faculty of Medicine in Nice: teaching (DES, DIU, medical curriculum), member of the teaching committee, and project leader.
The main mission of Professor Emmanuel Barranger will be to construct and implement the 2020-2024 medical-scientific project for the Antoine Lacassagne Center.
“Our 2020-2024 medical-scientific project is part of the dynamic driven by the Unicancer network. My ambition: personalized support throughout the care pathway,” explains Professor Emmanuel Barranger. “I wish, in a collective approach and faithful to the values of Unicancer, to prepare the Antoine Lacassagne Center for the challenges of oncology tomorrow in coherence with the transformation axes of the health system.”
