The Minister of Culture and Communication, Frรฉdรฉric Mitterrand, informed the President of the General Council of the Alpes-Maritimes that the proposal to list the Church of Notre Dame Auxiliatrice in Nice as a historic monument will be presented at the next national commission meeting.
This decisive step in the recognition process of this Art Deco masterpiece acknowledges the efforts made by Father Alain Beylot, local preservation associations in Nice, and numerous architecture enthusiasts who have worked to protect this remarkable example of contemporary religious architecture.
Spectacularly adorned with a life-size fresco by Eugรจne Doucet, sculptures by Carlo Sarrabezolles, and stained glass by Bessac, the Church of Notre Dame Auxiliatrice is part of the heritage of Nice and the Alpes-Maritimes, and requires the most attentive protection.
Eric Ciotti, President of the General Council, reacted: ‘I hope that the national commission of historic monuments recognizes all the artistic and heritage significance of this building and decides on its classification.’
