Christian Estrosi and Alain Philip inaugurated the exhibition “Nice: Award-Winning Architecture” on Monday, which presents the various projects of the 2012 Moniteur National Architecture Awards. It will be held at the Forum of Urbanism and Architecture of the City of Nice from July 16 to September 13, 2013, with a scenography designed by the Nice-based agency CAB Architects, winner of the 2012 ร‰querre d’Argent Award.

nice_architecture.jpg Few cities in France can boast of seeing their architects win the prestigious Moniteur architecture awards three times. Outside of Paris, only Nice has as many awardees: the First Work Prize for the agency of Pierre-Andrรฉ Compte and Stรฉphane Vollenweider in 2007, the ร‰querre d’Argent Prize for Marc Barani in 2008 and the same ร‰querre d’Argent Prize for CAB Architects in 2012. Let’s also mention the prestigious Grand National Architecture Prize 2013 recently awarded to Marc Barani for his entire body of work.

This exhibition will offer both a global and local perspective on contemporary French architecture. A global vision of architectural production in France in 2012 is first provided through all the named and awarded accomplishments. But also a local perspective focusing on the three Nice-based laureates from 2007 to 2012, providing an opportunity to compare the journeys of three contemporary Nice architects and to observe that a fertile ground for strong architectural thinking is being reaffirmed in Nice, with architects who are both identified with their territory and whose vision and voice extend far.
