Prom’Classic: Abdelatif Meftah and Sophie Duarte Crowned in Nice

Latest News

It was on the Promenade des Anglais that the 8,500 runners registered for the Promโ€™Classic race gathered this Sunday. Once again this year, sport and celebration came together to make this event an unmissable appointment!

Between the sea and the mountains, the Promโ€™Classic took place under a springtime sun.

Abdelatif Meftah was the first to cross the finish line for the 3rd time at the Promโ€™Classic. A feat for this French athlete.

He was thus faster than his main male competitors, including young Hassan Chahdi who came in 2nd and Denis Mayaud, the 2012 French 10-kilometer champion, who came in 4th. Mounir Acherki, who wasnโ€™t among the favorites, secured 3rd place.

Among the women, Sophie Duarte, 2013 European Cross Champion, took 1st place. In 2nd place was Swiss runner Patricia Morceli. Martha Komu, her main opponent on paper, came in 3rd.

A race marked by good cheer

It was from 10 AM that the first starts were given. In total, 7 waves of races took place according to the participants’ times. The ideal weather conditions at the start: clear skies, pleasant temperatures, and almost no wind did not allow the favorites to set a new record.

For this first race of the year, everyone who crossed the finish line received a dated medal. A beautiful gift for this 16th edition which โ€“ as its name suggests โ€“ has already become a classic of the race.
