The Prom’Classic is preparing to celebrate its 15th anniversary in a month. 15 years of performances, personal or collective challenges, festivities, delights, and sharing have made the Prom’Classic establish itself over the years as the unmissable event at the start of the year on the national racing calendar, consistently being the first 10 km in France.
The event has successfully attracted nearly 10% of competitors from abroad for several years now. A remarkable achievement for this sporting gathering, which has been held with sold-out entries in recent editions. This 15th anniversary will be no exception, as the Prom’Classic will be limited to 8000 bibs this year.
As in previous years, competitors will have the privilege of running along the seaside, on the entirety of both roadways of the Promenade des Anglais with a U-turn at Nice Côte d’Azur airport. Since last year, all runners start together in waves (including one dedicated exclusively to women who choose) starting at 10:00 AM on the north roadway for a return on the south roadway based on their reference times. The course record has been held since 2007 by Moroccan Saïd TBIBI with a time of 28’38». Among women, Frenchwoman Christelle DAUNAY broke the record in 2013 with a time of 32’26».
Last year, the Prom’Classic officialized its partnership with the running brand KALENJI, continuing until 2016. The Prom’Classic thus became the first road race it partnered with, emphasizing KALENJI’s dual commitment to performance and accessibility.
This year, KALENJI will once again be represented by several athlete-partners, participating in the development of the brand’s performance products:
Stéphane Diagana, European record holder in the 400 m hurdles,
Julie Bartoli, 4th in the French Marathon Championship 2013, 1h04’27» at the 20 km of Paris 2013,
Thierry Breuil, World Team Trail Vice-Champion 2013, triple French Trail Champion,
Sophie Duarte, four-time French Champion in the 3000 m steeplechase, 33’06» at the 10 km of Balma 2013
Benjamin Malaty, top French marathon runner (Paris 2013 in 2h12’) and French Cross Country Champion.
As in previous years, the organizers will invite Prom’Classic participants the day before the race at 10:00 AM to participate in the traditional Jogging Breakfast, an event particularly appreciated by runners. This year, competitors will have the privilege of running alongside Stéphane Diagana, who will start this training session with them.
Starting Friday, January 3rd at 1:00 PM, the Running Expo village will open its doors to competitors to collect their bibs and discover the latest in running innovations in the presence of the KALENJI team. Over the course of two days, this venue will also allow encounters with other representatives from the running community.
