Prom’ Record Day 2024 brought together more than 1,000 participants on the Promenade des Anglais. The events took place under a brilliant sun. Besides the great performances and records, the event also highlighted important social causes.
Prom’ Record Day 2024 once again proved that it is one of the flagship events in Nice’s sporting calendar. In a friendly atmosphere, runners of all levels came together to traverse the legendary Promenade des Anglais.
Stéphane Diagana, president of the Nice Côte d’Azur Athletics, expressed delight at the growing success of the event. With a total of 1092 registrations spread over the five events offered, the Prom’ Record Day reached a new peak in terms of participation. The main event, My Beautiful Prom’, a highly anticipated 5 km race, gathered more than 500 athletes.
High-Level Performances
Sportingly, the performances did not disappoint. For the men, Ayoub El Amani (AMSL Fréjus Athletics) dominated the race. He completed the 5 km in just 14 minutes and 53 seconds. On the women’s side, Laurine Housseaux (Nice Côte d’Azur Athletics) made a mark by breaking the women’s record with an impressive time of 16 minutes and 41 seconds. She was not the only one to shine, as Yolande Marchal (ASPTT Nice), aged 85, achieved the feat of breaking the world record for her category with a time of 29 minutes and 46 seconds.
The event was not limited to athletic performance. The walk My Health Prom’, organized in partnership with the Alpes-Maritimes Committee of the Cancer League, broke its own record for participation. This walk, dedicated to cancer prevention, gathered walkers motivated by an important cause. In parallel, participants with psychiatric disabilities took part in the various events. Thanks to a partnership with the Departmental Committee of Adapted Sport 06, as part of mental health awareness week.
The meeting is already set for next year, with the promise of an even more ambitious and inclusive seventh edition.
