Prom’Record Day: a first filled with enthusiasm!

The Nice Côte d’Azur Athletics (NCAA) organized a unique sporting event this weekend, which reportedly delighted all those who had the chance to take part in this first edition.

For its first edition, the Prom’Record Day gathered nearly 250 participants last Saturday and Sunday around three events accessible to all: the Leisure Health Walk, the Château Stairs Climb, and the Miles.

On Saturday, in the early afternoon, about thirty participants kicked off the event with the Leisure Health Walk, covering 7.7 km starting from the Quai des États-Unis (approximately an hour of walking, which is double the recommended daily physical activity time to stay healthy).

In addition to the pleasure of walking by the sea, participants had the joy of supporting a good cause, as all proceeds from the event were donated to the Alpes-Maritimes Cancer League.

In the mid-afternoon, about 60 people then tackled the 486 steps of the Château Hill Park in an individual time trial format of 550 meters. In this event, two NCAA athletes set the benchmark times: Sébastien Thiery for men (2min19s40) and Sofia Bonicalza for women (3min34s70).

Finally, on Sunday morning, the pouring rain did not deter nearly 150 people from lining up for the mythical Mile distance (1609 meters) on the Promenade des Anglais.

The race took place in several waves by category and saw the participation of Olivier Robaut and Stéphane Diagana, a double world champion in athletics and the event’s patron.

The best time was achieved by the locals Naofel El Bajnouni (4min55s07, nearly 20 km/h!) and Adèle Le Négaret (6min08s40).

Jouissif Sekouh and Charlotte Bouteillé, their clubmates, won the combined “Stair Climb + Mile” with times of 7min45s01 and 10min26s83.
