At 9:56 AM, the more aggressive competitors than ever opened the event 4 minutes before the gentlemen, with the best female athletes of the moment.
As anticipated, everything progressed rapidly because the French athlete Christelle DAUNAY, who had already declared her ambition to win before the race, easily succeeded by claiming first place on the podium in just 33 minutes and 14 seconds, well ahead of the Moroccan Btissam LAKHOUAD, one of the favorites of the race, who finished in 33 minutes and 40 seconds, and the French Carmen OLIVERAS in 33 minutes and 46 seconds. Thanks to this outstanding performance, Christelle DAUNAY becomes the new record holder of the women’s event, improving the record set by Fatima YVELAIN in 2004 by 6 seconds.
Ultimately, a total of 1014 female runners crossed the finish line.
On the men’s side, Moroccan Saïd TBIBI surprised by winning first place in 28 minutes and 38 seconds; he also set a new record on Promenade des Anglais by beating last year’s time by 8 seconds, followed 4 seconds later by Namibian runner Ruben INN DUNGO in 28 minutes and 42 seconds, and Moroccan athlete Larbi ZEROUAL in 28 minutes and 46 seconds.
