Promenade du Paillon: “Sterile and Deceptive Controversies”?

Latest News

The Nice city hall reacts strongly, criticizing “a municipal candidate who is clearly seeking to create sterile and false controversies.” The water of the Promenade du Paillon has not finished making… a lot of ink spill!

Following accusations from Olivier Bettati, an independent candidate in the Nice municipal elections, claiming that the water used in the Promenade du Paillon is contaminated, the City of Nice provides clarifications.

The decree used as a reference by the analysis laboratories concerns “only drinking water.” However, “the water mirror is not intended to distribute drinking water, but to be used in a festive and decorative manner,” counters the city hall.

“These jets are not intended for swimming either, but the analyses would nevertheless meet the regulatory thresholds for bathing water quality,” adds the city hall, noting that “the water is treated with chlorine oxide.”

So, is it a pointless act or a significant issue?
