Saturday, August 9, a demonstration will be organized to enforce the ceasefire in Gaza and recognize the Palestinian state. A march announced by the Collectif 06 for a just and lasting peace between Palestinians and Israelis.

At 7 PM, the procession will set off from Boulevard Gambetta near the Promenade des Anglais for the demonstration organized by the Collectif 06 for a just and lasting peace between Palestinians and Israelis (local branch of the CNPJDPI, editor’s note). The march will continue along the sea towards the Albert 1st Garden before concluding with a picnic on Centenary Beach. The organization wants to denounce the genocidal war perpetrated by the Israeli state against the Palestinians. Created in 2000, the collective comprises a fifty of associations, unions, and political parties.

The Demands of Collectif 06 for a Just and Lasting Peace Between Palestinians and Israelisย 

The collective calls for strong actions from France; here is an excerpt. It demands French sanctions against the Hebrew state, the immediate resumption of humanitarian aid, the end of military cooperation between the two countries, and the suspension of the association agreement between the European Union and Israel.

In an interview given on August 7 to Fox News, an American media outlet close to Donald Trump, Benyamin Netanyahu stated that he โ€œwants to take control of the Gaza Stripโ€, notably โ€œto ensure [its] securityโ€. Nonetheless, he does not want to โ€œgovernโ€ it or โ€œkeepโ€ it. โ€œWe want to pass the baton to Arab forces who will govern properly without threatening us and offering a pleasant life to the inhabitants of Gaza. This is not possible with Hamasโ€, he adds.
