This Sunday, on the Trans Day of Remembrance, LGBT associations will gather and demonstrate at 6 PM at the Place du Palais de Justice.
On the occasion of the Trans Day of Remembrance (TDoR), dedicated to trans individuals who have been murdered around the world, SOS Homophobia emphasizes the importance of fighting for all trans people, as well as intersex and non-binary individuals, who are targets of transphobic violence: physical, psychological, moral, and state violence… which sadly leads to isolation, precariousness, and internalized transphobia due to the lack of visibility of positive role models.
In France, the non-recognition of discrimination based on gender identity continues to prevent the acquisition of accurate and realistic figures on assaults and crimes motivated by transphobia, which are all too often reclassified as sex-based crimes.
More than ever, it is urgent to combat the reactionary rhetoric of those who march in the streets while ignoring the violence and precariousness experienced by trans people in France.
