Le 109 is a unique site of 2 hectares in the heart of Nice. Former municipal slaughterhouses, transformed into a hub for contemporary cultures.
Several cultural structures contributing to the local artistic life are housed there: the Station (an association defending contemporary art through production and exhibition), l’Entre-pont (a federation centered around live performances in all its forms), the Urban Planning and Architecture Forum, 29 artists’ workshops, the Antipodes dance company, and Botox[s] (contemporary art network in the Alps and Riviera).
Each year, this artistic abundance produces a cultural event, entirely free, to share this exceptional space.
This Friday, Saturday, and Sunday will host the 3rd edition of Eclairage public. The exhibition “Ben: Life is a Film”, organized as part of the Biennale des Arts “Nice 2019. Cinema Odyssey” on the occasion of the centenary of the Victorine studios, will be the starting point for these three days of celebration.
All the spaces of Le 109 will be open to you, allowing you to discover all the cultures, all the disciplines that will intersect and blend in this spirit of sharing. This collaboration and transdisciplinarity, at the heart of the 109 project, will allow for a diverse programming offered by resident producers joined by invited producers: Dime on music, Autour de, Il était un truc, La compagnie humaine/Université Côte d’Azur…
A variety of artistic proposals, abundant and eclectic, will allow you to enjoy festive concerts and DJ sets featuring, among others, Jok’air, Nux Vomica, Moussu T, Papet J, Lo Cor De La Plana, La Chica, Felixita and DJ Afroman… astonishing performances like Lignes de Vie where choreographer and parkour prodigy Antoine le Ménestrel will make you look up along the buildings of Le 109, not to mention the theater, dance, and performances by Eva Rami, La Compagnie Reveida, Une petite voix m’a dit…, Be, Trucmuche Compagnie.
Also to be discovered is the exceptional work of the University of Nice Côte d’Azur, coordinated by La Compagnie Humaine to create a series of performances with around fifty students.
Le 109 will also be open to urban cultures with initiations and demonstrations by Alice Freestyle, Accrobarz, Otom, and Nissart Skate.
A permanent cinema room will allow the discovery of short and feature films with music as the guiding theme.
More than 50 artists will make you laugh, dream, and dance from morning until the heart of the night. A completely free weekend to discover creativity in all its forms and the exceptional site that is Le 109.
