Nice welcomes 4 million visitors per year, 60% of whom come during the period from May to September.

The summer program of the City of Nice includes a set of guidelines “aimed at preventing as many problems as possible.” Focused on safety, cleanliness, the environment, and accessibility for people with disabilities, it aims to promote a new model.

Public Safety

Strengthening of patrols during the most sensitive time slots and at the most exposed tourist sites. Reinforcement of water brigades between 9 a.m. and 7 p.m. Implementation of 11 lifeguard stations located from East to West, between Carras and Coco Beach. The staffing of the stations is ensured by two parties, under the authority of the Mayor: SDIS 06, and the association “Secourisme pour Tous” (First Aid for All).

Beach Cleanliness

Four boats will be used to maintain the quality of the bathing waters. One hybrid decontamination boat equipped with a water cannon for spraying beaches and rocky areas; 3 decontamination boats. They ensure the recovery of floating debris. They can respond to small-scale hydrocarbon pollution and also enable the oxygenation of the water area and the watering of beaches.

On average, 15 agents patrol the beaches of the Baie des Anges twice a day, spraying the beaches and collecting waste from 5 a.m. to 6:30 p.m. Fifty agents are tasked with cleaning the beaches and southern sidewalks from Carras to Rauba Capeu, as well as scrubbing the coastal path of Coco Beach from 5 a.m. to 8 p.m. Four hundred trash bins are collected daily. The City also noted that it will be distributing beach ashtrays from July 15 to August 15.

Environment

Preservation of the natural heritage is a major focus of the general policy of the Nice Cรดte d’Azur Metropolis. Ensuring the quality of watercourses preserves a unique natural environment and our main drinking water resource. To achieve this, particular attention is given to the control and quality of bathing waters.

Health monitoring is organized from May 21 to September 28, under the authority of the Regional Health Agency. Samples are taken from 27 bathing sites spread from La Lanterne to Coco Beach.

Accessible Beaches

As part of its policy to integrate people with disabilities, the City of Nice conducts numerous actions to facilitate the daily life of citizens with disabilities. The city provides two free accessible beaches on the Promenade des Anglais, at Carras and Centenaire. They are intended for all individuals with specific needs requiring accommodation and support for bathing, without any verification or reservation. Free of charge, 7 days a week from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. Two amphibious chairs will be made available, along with pool noodles and life jackets. Accessible showers and restrooms, as well as reserved parking spaces, will also be offered. Specialized staff will oversee the facilities.
