Jean-Marie Cotteret is a French academic. Born on July 30, 1935, in Hanoi, he was a professor of public law and political science at the University of Nice from 1964 to 1975, and a co-founder of the “French Review of Communication” in 1978. He is the director of the Research Center on Information and Communication and a Professor Emeritus at the Department of Political Science at the Sorbonne.
Jean-Marie Cotteret also served as a consultant for the company Infomรฉtrie from 1980 to 1993, was a technical advisor to the office of the Minister of State, Keeper of the Seals, Minister of Justice (Pierre Mรฉhaignerie) from 1993 to 1995, and a member of the Superior Council of Audiovisual (CSA) from 1995 to 2001. He has been a member of the National Commission on Informatics and Liberty (CNIL) since January 2004.
He is also a recognized author: “Electoral Systems” with Claude รmeri; “To Govern Is to Appear,”, “Budgetary Law and Public Accounting;”, “The Battle of Images” with Gรฉrard Mermet; “The Electoral Market” with Claude รmeri; and “Tele-Guided Democracy.”
