Will the buses in Nice run without polluting? The good news comes from the Rรฉgie Ligne d’Azur, which manages transport for the city and the Mรฉtropole. Electric buses are being tested on various urban routes to check their reliability.
The European manufacturer Irizar is behind these eco-friendly buses. For this experiment, it is a standard capacity bus with 75 seats, including 4 seats for People with Reduced Mobility (PMR) and 2 spaces for Wheelchair Users (UFR).
Already tested in Barcelona and Marseille, the Irizar i2e bus boasts a range of 250 km. The tests will be conducted over a period of 2 months. Other electric vehicles of the same size will be tested later to establish a comparative assessment.
After the launch of the “north-center-east” tram line, to which its twin “east-center-west” line, currently under construction, will be added in three years, the prospect of electric buses is heartening for significantly improving the quality of life and health of the inhabitants of the capital of the French Riviera.
