In Cannes, Nice, or the Roya Valley, once again the “hunt” for refugees and supportive citizens seems to be the favorite sport of the French authorities in the Alpes-Maritimes. Instead of setting up appropriate structures to welcome refugees in conditions worthy of the world’s 6th largest power, the authorities pursue and detain them.
Solutions do exist to put an end to this situation by establishing a reception, regulation, orientation, and care center for refugees, a structure befitting the world’s 6th largest power!
On December 7, 2000, in Nice, the European Union adopted the Charter of Fundamental Rights which states: “The Union is founded on the indivisible values of human dignity, freedom, equality, and solidarity.”
There is an urgent need to take action!
