This railway connection is fundamental for the economic and tourist development of the cities of Turin and Nice and the territories between them: the Roya Valley, the Cuneo region, and the cross-border territories concerned, as well as to give a boost to close relations between the two countries.
Following the motions of the General Council of the Alpes Maritimes and the CAFI (Franco-Italian Alps Conference association) and the joint communiquรฉ of the French and Italian communities on July 25th regarding the Nice-Breil-Tende-Cuneo-Turin railway line, for which an update of the 1970 international agreement is requested, Mr. Eric CIOTTI, Deputy, President of the General Council of the Alpes-Maritimes and his counterpart from Cuneo, Mrs. Gianna GANCIA, wished to formalize an agreement to express to the States the desire of the communities to maintain this line and to develop it through a Nice-Cuneo-Turin connection.
This Monday, October 29th, Mr. Eric CIOTTI will host the representatives of the French and Italian communities at the General Council of the Alpes-Maritimes.
The Piedmont Region, the Comunitร Montana delle Alpi del Mare, the municipalities of Turin, Cuneo, Limone, Tende, Breil, the Turin Chamber of Commerce and the Italian Chamber of Commerce of Nice have also joined this agreement.
