Jeanick Brisswalter was re-elected President of the Université Côte d’Azur for four years on Tuesday, January 9, 2024. President since 2020, he was elected by the members of the board of directors with 27 out of 36 votes in the first round.
The position of President was contested by two candidates:
Jeanick Brisswalter, leader of the C.A.R.E list and candidate for his own succession, and Luc Pronzato, leader of the Public Service and University Democracy (SPDU) list.
Jeanick Brisswalter plans to advocate for Université Côte d’Azur on an international scale. Since 2020, Université Côte d’Azur has been one of the nine French universities to receive the “University of Excellence” label, aimed at fostering creativity and the renewal of research at Université Côte d’Azur.
Jeanick Brisswalter’s policy is based on four main pillars
During his re-election, Jeanick Brisswalter announced the four main actions he will implement over the next four years:
- Strengthen the role of Graduate Schools (Écoles Universitaires de Recherche, EUR) at the core of the system with other constituent institutions to secure student pathways.
- Continue the university’s actions and commitment on major societal issues, notably Public Health, Digital Transformation, and socio-environmental transitions.
- Enhance the position of Université Côte d’Azur within its territory to facilitate dialogue between science and society, and to educate citizens with an open and critical mindset.
- Promote entrepreneurial spirit, with over 2,000 students trained in student entrepreneurship since 2020, and further develop the innovation continuum from students to researchers.
